Description

At Les Aventures Liguoriennes, we welcome you like family! Our mission is to share our knowledge and passion, and to introduce the world of dog sledding to all those who, like us, wish to get closer to nature and deepen the unique bond between dog and human. We put the respect and well-being of our dogs first, and prioritize a warm, personalized approach to our customers. Our ¨L'Escapade¨ tour offers you a rich route between plains and forests and lets you discover a magnificent winter landscape during a one-hour dogsled ride. Before the adventure begins, we make sure you have all the equipment and clothing you need to enjoy the ride in comfort. If necessary, we'll lend you what you don't have. We then join the guide team at the kennel and introduce you to our faithful four-legged athletes. There's plenty to learn about the dogs, their care and training, winter competitions and the farm's certified organic agriculture. The sled departure from the kennel puts you right in the middle of the pack right from the start of the adventure. You'll have the chance to help harness the teams or simply pet our affectionate dogs while your guides prepare the sleds. We go out with small groups at a time, and one guide is always out front with his or her team of dogs. The ratio is one guide to a maximum of three sleds. After a 15-minute theory/safety briefing on driving techniques, we're off on our adventure! Two by two, aboard your sled, you can alternate driving and sitting positions. You'll be impressed by the speed and endurance of our Alaskan team members, and by the sheer pleasure they derive from the activity! Sledding is a sporting experience. You need good balance, good reflexes and the ability to run through the snow to help the dogs on their way up! Minimum 1-hour trail ride. (15km) Total activity time: Minimum 2h

Includes

Cold-weather equipment available on site free of charge. (Snow pants, boots, warm mittens, helmet and goggles). Theoretical and practical training before departure and safe supervision by certified, experienced guides. Access to the kennels and special time with the dogs before and after the ride. On the way back, stay and play with the dogs as we let them run and play in the wild before quietly returning them to their paddock! Drive your own sled and swap drivers with your passenger. Several sled options are available, and by discussing them with you, we'll be able to help you make the right choice for the best experience! To warm you up, a hot beverage (coffee, herbal tea, hot chocolate) and a homemade snack featuring products from our organic farm are served on your return. 15% discount on the purchase of any item in the on-site boutique.

Important Information

  • There are two of you per sled, and at least one of you must be able to lead the team of 5 to 6 dogs. If you wish, you can alternate between sitting and driving halfway along the trail. You follow a guide with his team of dogs after receiving a safety briefing and driving techniques. Although not very difficult, driving a dog team is a sporting experience and requires a good sense of balance, sustained attention and good reflexes, as do most snow sports (downhill skiing, snowboarding, etc.). So you need to be in good physical shape. However, you won't have to run behind the dogs; they are well trained to pull you along at an average speed of between 15 and 25 km/h, depending on snow conditions. It's a magical experience that combines adrenalin and zenitude...you'll see!
